Monica Crawford is an award winning, multidisciplinary artist based in Southern California. Her primary art practice is painting, and throughout the years explored woodblock, etchings and sculpture.
Monica utilizes an intuitive approach, that leans into an expressionistic style with an anthropomorphic twist often embodying human traits and tendencies. Her approach utilizes an amplification of color with a vast painterly language, garnered over decades of trial and error, with passion and consistency.
Depending on the artwork a variety of materials are utilized in the process combining water based paints; acrylics, inks, watercolors, soft pastels and charcoal on museum quality canvas, Arches watercolor paper and wood panels. Limited edition prints are released from approximately 1-2 time annually.
Monica graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art, Painting and Drawing, from San Francisco State University. During that time, she was fortunate to study with the highly regarded artists Robert Bechtle (1932-2022) and Paul Pratchenko, to name a few. Upon graduating she was awarded with the 4 person group show at Diego Rivera Gallery with best of show. She continued her arts education with courses at the San Francisco Art Institute, UC Berkeley, and Academy of Art.
Her artworks have been privately collected both internationally and across the US. She's shown in well respected arts organizations and galleries, with group and solo shows throughout the San Francisco/Bay Area, Santa Cruz, Sacramento, Orange County and New York.
